Grand Opening

Okay, so let this be my first official post.

What should you expect from this blog? Probably random blathering about my life and my opinions on things either in the news or in the gossip world. Some are hooked on phonics, I'm hooked on gossip. Not the National Enquirer-type that my mother subjected us to in my teen years. Gossip from reliable sources, and blind items. I suck at guessing at them. I guessed a Ted one correctly once - something about Common being serviced by a male singer and someone walking in on them. See what I mean? Real gossip, not is so-and-so pregnant.

Why the name Shakey, you may ask. Here is the real Shakey:

This isn't the most recent photo of her, but she pretty much looks the same, albeit fatter. She hasn't taken the weight off after the last litter of kittens in September. She's basically a stray. Supposedly a couple down the road "own" her, but she's been hanging around our house for almost 3 years now. When we first saw her, she was at our back door and looked like she was about to die - she couldn't sit without shaking (hence the name). We fed her, she'd hang around, take off, come back, hide her kittens on our property, and the whole cycle would start again. My friend Karen was able to find homes for the last batch of kittens. I'm hoping her kitten-bearing days are over.

My husband is really a cat whisperer. They love him, truly love him. He claims to not be able to stand cats. He refuses to let any animals into the house (his mother was the same way). So if you stumble upon this blog and you're from the southwestern Quebec region, and looking for a cat - she's a beauty. And she's a good hunter. Right now she's residing in our shed. Apparently one of the windows came off (my husband blames her - like she used her claw and dug away at the grout) and my husband found her there the other day. I told him to just leave her be.

So that's about it for now. I have to get ready to go to the doctor's this afternoon. My body is approaching menopause (or may be right in it), so it's been doing funny things. Plus, I need to find out why my leg still hurts so badly after twisting it last Monday. I can't kneel or tuck my feet under my chair - the pain is quite horrible behind the knee.

I haven't felt my age until this year. Nuts.

P.S. it's my tendon that's sore. Advil and no kneeling is the only cure. I will need a D&C done to curb these raging periods. Sounds painful, but at my age and with my family history, the Pill is not the way to go.

  1. I'm still at least a decade away from menopause (hopefully!) and my body is already doing funny things. Growing old is not for the faint-of-heart. (What the f- is up with the random chin hairs?!)

  2. Oh they're awful, aren't they? My father has black hair. My chin hairs are black. Any time my husband catches me trying to pull one out he says, "Do you want me to get my razor?" So sensitive. LOL!!!
